| Ray G. Gann, 73 WILLISTON — Ray G. Gann, 73, a former deputy state insurance commissioner, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at his home. A native of Mableton, Ga., he moved to Williston from Blitchton 14 years ago. Mr. Gann served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946; U.S. Marine Corps from 1946 to 1949; U.S. Coast Guard from 1949 to 1952; and U.S. Coast Guard Reserve from 1952 to 1955. Mr. Gann was the recipient of the following medals: American Theater, Pacific Theater, Good Conduct, Army of Occupation, World War II Service, and Victory. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church; former chairman of the Democratic Party in Pinellas County; and past vice president of the Holiday Isles Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include his wife, Rose M. Gann, Williston; mother, Minnie McBerry, Huntsville, Ala.; son, Jeff Gann, East Lake Weir; daughters, Valerie Cox, Williston, and Julie Griffin, Keystone Heights; sisters, Betty Booth, Huntsville, Ala., and Mary Logue, Jackson, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
